The Twelfth in Bangor
Orangemen and women from across North Down will mark the 327th anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne with the Twelfth demonstration on Wednesday in Bangor.
Host District Bangor LOL 18 will welcome fellow brethren from Newtownards, Holywood and Upper Ards districts as well as bands and many visitors from further afield.
Earlier in the morning various feeder parades will bring the Newtownards lodges to our starting point in Mary Street for 9.30am. Our local parade will begin at 10am and take the following route:
Mary Street, Mark Street, Upper North Street, Talbot Street, William Street, Regent Street, Frances Street, Zion Place, Bangor Road and onto buses. Buses will drop visiting Districts in the Bloomfield Road/Gransha Road area.
The main demonstration will commence at 11.45am with Bangor lodges starting from Castle Street, while the visiting Districts will join in from Gransha Road. The demonstration field will be at Valentine Playing Fields.
PARADE ROUTE: Castle Street, Main Street, Castle Park Avenue, Castle Park Road, Castle Street, Hamilton Road, Donaghadee Road, High Street, Quay Street, Main Street, Abbey Street, Newtownards Road, Abbey Hill Drive.
Once in the field, platform proceedings will start at 2.15pm. The return parade in Bangor will leave the field at 4pm along the following route:
Abbey Hill Drive, Newtownards Road, Abbey Street, Main Street. At the junction of Main Street and Castle Street, Bangor District will open ranks to allow Newtownards, Upper Ards and Holywood Districts to parade though onto Castle Street to their buses on Bloomfield Road and Gransha Road.
On return to Newtownards, our lodges will get off buses on Bangor Road and proceed to Conway Square via Zion Place, Upper Movilla Street, Queen Street, Upper Greenwell Street, New Road, Portaferry Road, Castle Street and High Street.
